Are you a university student staying in Boston this summer? Or are you a university student away from Boston but wanting to stay connected with our church community? Although sadly we can’t be together in person this summer in light of COVID-19, our University Ministry is excited to launch U.M. Summer gatherings via Zoom starting May 21.
In light of the recent news of the tragic deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd that took place in our country over the past month, there has been an ongoing nationwide conversation surrounding the issue of racial injustice in America. All across our nation, individual Christians and churches are wrestling with questions centered on issues of race, justice, and the gospel. During this time of unrest and tension, chaos and confusion, we’re all looking for answers, but even more, we’re looking for a safe and open space to ask honest questions and learn alongside others.
Join us this summer as we seek to do this together as a college church community. We will be taking the summer to spend time learning together as we follow the Color of Compromise Video Study series, led by Christian author and historian Jemar Tisby – taking a closer look at American Christianity’s racial past and the connections between the church and racism throughout American history.
The call of this study series is not a call to shame or to blame. But it is a call to love and a desire to fight for a more racially unified church that no longer compromises what the Bible teaches about human dignity and equality. It is a call that challenges Christians to confront issues of racial injustice, and to hopefully chart a path forward to foster a culture of reconciliation and love among God’s people here in our city and on our college campuses.
