The greater Boston area boasts more than 60 campuses. At Citylife, we value our students. We firmly believe that caring for Boston’s students is essential to caring for the spiritual welfare of our city. Thus, the University Ministry is one of our largest and most creative ministries.

Convinced that spiritual growth and care occur most effectively in community, we offer a number of Community Groups specifically for university students. We design these groups to be inwardly-growing and outwardly-faced. They focus not only on nurture and care but also on mercy and outreach. Citylife believes God’s word is relevant and transformative, and our Community Groups reflect this belief with regular Bible study, prayer, fellowship, and fun. Groups meet on various nights throughout the week on or near campuses.

But community groups are not the only place to get connected. We’ve designed our University Ministry along three tiers of engagement and intimacy, and each tier provides a variety of large-to-small group dynamics:

Large: The Crossroads, 2:00pm Sunday worship service

                Medium: Regular monthly events

                Small: Campus Community Groups

Crossroads is the “hub” of our University Ministry at Citylife.  Students from all over the city gather at 2:00 PM for our third of three weekly worship services.  Crossroads is designed to be a venue for exploring, deepening, and extending gospel truths toward those who attend.  Students are welcome to attend any of the three services at Citylife, yet Crossroads is the place where they can be deeply known and cared for.

You’ll notice something a bit different when you first arrive at Crossroads. Rather than rows of chairs, the service itself is formatted around tables and chairs.  Coffee and tea are offered weekly, and we regularly host post-service opportunities for connectedness and growth.  These take shape as we 1) host monthly Q&A’s with questions sent in via text-messages, 2) offer opportunities for dialogue and discussion which we call “table-talk,” which are off-set by 3) monthly dinners and outings.

We desire to build Crossroads into a dynamic community centered upon the hope and truth of the gospel- a truth that deepens relationships and welcomes others to participate.  We hope you’ll visit soon!

We believe that Christian discipleship and growth is best carried out in community; therefore, Citylife is committed to nurturing its people through opportunities of mutual support, practical love & service, fellowship (food & fun), and learning about the Christian faith. They are the primary place for pastoral care where we can embody the gospel through kingdom priorities. If you are not already in a Community Group, we encourage you to contact the leader of the CG nearest you or email college@citylifeboston.org

Winter Getaway

Join us for our 2nd annual trip to Franklin, NH for a one night, two day adventure at the Webster Lake Inn.  Webster Lake Inn is famous the world over as the first place Christopher Columbus stayed when he came to America in 1492.  This place is old!

It's been renovated since old 'Topher stayed there, and on February 5-6th, it's all ours!  You can click here to check out accommodations and pictures of Webster Lake.

The weekend is literally a "getaway" - a chance to get out of town, off campus, and to enjoy an evening with others from Citylife's University Ministry.  We have plans to eat a lot, laugh a lot, and hopefully leave the weekend with a few extra friends.  Spots are limited to 30 attendees, so please get signed up right away!  Use this as a chance to introduce friends to Citylife.  Anyone and everyone is welcome.  You can get signed up below.

When: Friday, February 5th though Saturday February 6th.  We'll be departing from the Radisson at 6:30 PM on Friday, returning to the same at around 5:30 the next day.

Where: Webster Lake Inn, Franklin, NH

Cost: $30 (includes transportation, lodging, and all meals except Friday night).  Cash or check.  Please make all checks out to "Citylife Church."  Moneys should be brought the day of the trip.

Participant Packing Guide:

• There are beds, but some folks will be using a cot or air-mattress.  Therefore you must bring a sleeping bag or warm blanket (or two.)
• Some linens are provided, but to be safe, bring a towel, washcloth, etc.
• Bring your own personal toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, etc).  T.P. will be provided!
• Bring bibles, books, board games, playing cards.

Departure Information:
• We are leaving from the Radisson at 6:30 PM sharp on Friday.  Please be there by 6:15!!
• We'll be returning to the Radisson on Saturday by 5:30.

If needed, a late car is leaving Boston around 7:30. Please email college@citylifeboston.org.

Superbowl Sunday Throwdown
You're invited to come and root for your favorite team (or favorite commercial!) on Sunday, Feb. 7 as we celebrate the 2010 Superbowl.  A party is being hosted at University Ministry Director Jonathan Kerhoulas's home.  Pizzas and drinks will be provided, all other foods are BYOS ("Bring yo own snack!"), but be sure it's enough to share.  Cars will be leaving from the Radisson Hotel after Crossroads.  T-access is also very convenient.  The Kerhoulas' home is a 3 minute walk from the JFK/Umass Station, Redline.  Email Jonathan.

Depth: Student Discipleship Initiative:

Having laid a basic foundation for a personal pursuit of God this fall, we're continuing this spring with Depth, Citylife's student discipleship initiative.  If you've ever wondered how to make real sense of scripture, how to enable it to direct, even enliven you, if you've wondered how the promises of a faithful God can be received and enacted with hope and confidence, then join us as we attempt to answer these and other questions.  Our aim is simple: to present the historic truths of Christianity in a manner that is palatable, relevant, and transformative so that individuals and campuses are changed for the glory of God.

Does the gospel really change things?  Real things, things that matter to me?  We'll explore this question by examining topics including status, performance, pressures, stress, anxiety, worry, influence, leadership, and relationships.

When: Depth will be hosted on Sundays in the hour just after Crossroads.
Dates:
 January 31, February 21, March 7, 21, 28, April 18.

We want you to participate! Simply complete the registration below.  This reserves your spot and all printed materials.
